Climate change, climate confusion. No snow at Christmas. The land was all khaki, brown and shades of defeated green — as if swaddled in military camouflage for a Christo spectacular. Someone must have been dreaming of a white spring. A snowstorm last Wednesday night knocked out the lights an hour before midnight and the darkness got deeper and icier until valiant linemen battling wind and snowdrifts brought them back just after dawn. If this year’s hares — rabbits, jackrabbits — look oddly like mule deer in the pictures, that is because a kind offer to stand in for the  missing animals was accepted immediately. Strict traditionalists can scroll down for an instant’s relief from climatic disorientation.
